Have you ever found one of those sites when you go camping that you just don’t want to leave? My wife and I had just that experience, Sunday morning came and we just did not want to leave. Other campers were pulling up their gear and started to head out but we wanted to stay that extra day. Unfortunately we were hit with the fact that we had to be at work the next day so we had to hit the road. I will be honest; I did not have high expectations of Mountain Dale. They were close to Colorado Springs so I did not thing I was going to get that feeling that we were “getting away”. I also had some concerns because based on the location of the site I thought we would be sitting right next to highway 115. I am very pleased to say that they went way above and beyond all expectations that I had.

The first thing that you notice when you are pulling into Mountain Dale is that it is off the highway, when I got to the easy to find registration area I was greeted with a warm and welcome smile. My reservations were all set and I was escorted to my site. My escort was a worker camper named Dick if I remember correctly. He was willing to help me get into my site but we really didn’t need much help, we had plenty of space. The site itself was level and just had been covered with new rock at the beginning of the summer I am guessing. The fire ring was nice and clean, as was the rest of the site. One of the really nice touches was when I called to make my reservation I told the people helping me what I was looking for in my trip. They were nice enough to help me pick the site that would best suit my needs. I had a great view of the mountains and wildlife that I saw all weekend long. I thought I would include a picture of the sites.

I cannot say enough a about how much we liked this site. The Ice Cream Social, all the nice extras like the hot tub, gazebo and covered picnic areas. I highly recommend the spots on the South side of the Campground like 34, 35 and 36. I know for me I have found a new “home” campground for that quick get away.  Visit their website here: http://www.mountaindalecampground.com/
